Be honest, when did you last actually sit down and read a research paper properly?
If it's been a while, you're in good company. Between caseloads and CPD and everything else on your plate as a Speech and Language Therapist or Student, it's usually the first thing to slip.
We've been there and that's exactly why we're doing this!
Papers & Chai is a space to read and reflect on a research paper together, and ask the questions our training doesn't always leave room for. Whose knowledge gets called 'evidence'? Whose voices are missing from the research we're taught to trust? And what does this actually mean for how we work with South Asian and wider global majority communities?
This is open to all Speech and Language Therapists and SLT Students, you don't need to be South Asian to be part of the conversation. Our aim is to hold space for conversations with more perspectives in the room, and by understanding these gaps in evidence and clinical practice, we take a step further to equitable care for the individuals and families we work with.
Two weeks before we meet, you'll get the paper and a short reflection journal, so you've got time to sit with it properly, at your own pace. And there's absolutely no pressure to have it all worked out. Just come with your honest thoughts and a cup of chai (we will also share our Founder's family recipe too).
