Thanks for your interest in the Southern California Chapter of The Wildlife Society's 2019 Burrowing Owl Workshop.
Instructors:
- Colleen Wisinski, San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research
- Susanne Marczak, San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research
- Jeff Lincer, Researchers Implementing Conservation Action (RICA), retired
- Brock Ortega, DUDEK
Location: California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve.
Workshop Summary: The workshop will include both classroom and field components. In the classroom, we will discuss natural history, identification, behavior, survey protocol, and conservation and mitigation strategies. The field component will take place at the reserve and allow us to observe burrowing owls in high quality habitat.
In order to minimize our impact on the habitat and the species, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has requested we keep group size to a minimum. So, the total class size will be limited to 30 participants.
Refunds and cancellations: cancellations must be requested 7 days prior to the workshop for a full refund. If cancelled less than 7 days, refunds will only be processed if the space is filled through our wait list.
Registration: Registration is $160 for current members of the Southern California Chapter of the Wildlife Society, $180 for non-members, and $80 for current undergraduate and graduate students.
Please use the registration button on the right side of the page. If you are a current student, please email Brian Parker (bparker@reconenvironmental.com).
