South Tees Wellbeing Network brings you an opportunity to spend a Saturday afternoon with Keith Bayley who will introduce you to some approaches to achieving happiness and improving your wellbeing.

The session:
This half day session will be an introduction to the psychological and spiritual approaches to achieving happiness and wellbeing. The session will help participants to explore what we can learn from the two approaches as well as identifying areas where life changes based on their insights can bring about personal benefits.
We will cover the following topics:
- Definitions of happiness and wellbeing
Life purpose and goals - Resilience including dealing with suffering and other life challenges.
- Becoming free of the thinking mind
- The importance of gratitude and giving
- Developing self acceptance
- The importance of good connections with other people
- Acceptance of our reality as it is in the present moment and the importance of mindfulness
- Being open to new experiences and learning
- A healthy body and mind
- Detachment from psychological attachments
- Embracing our own mortality
The format of the session will include presentation of information, discussion and group exercises.
About Keith

I was previously the Manager of Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency up until 2017, a voluntary sector support body. I was also the the Chair of Hartlepool and East Durham Mind up until 2020. I have taken a keen interest in mental wellbeing since I first became involved with Mind in 1997.
In 2015.
I was awarded a MBE for my wide range of charitable work over my working life. I have previously delivered courses and workshops on various topics related to spirituality and personal development including meditation and mindfulness. I’ve been interested in spirituality and personal development since my 30s and have explored and participated in various paths and traditions. I have undertaken a wide range of training as well as being widely read on the topics covered by this workshop.
