Community Gardening in Southwark Working Party
We would like to invite you to join us at the Paper Garden, a Global Generation project, a unique growing and educational project in Surrey Quays. This is a free event which will run 11am-2.30pm on Saturday 14th October.
We hope you can join us to meet other community gardeners in Southwark and get involved with a new working party to discuss topics to make community gardening and food growing easier in the borough. This follows on from the Listening event in July at Red Cross garden where we heard about challenges and opportunities facing projects.
11.15 to 12.15 Butterfly Conservation talk
Ele from Butterfly Conservation will talk about how to attract biodiversity in a garden space, from tiny spaces to larger gardens as part of their Wild Spaces campaign.
12.15 - 13.00 Networking and food & drinks.
13.00 - 13.30 Updates from the Community Gardening team about Listening Event and steps taken.
13.30 -14.30 Green waste collection / composting discussion working group with facilitator.
This is the first working group to find solutions to the challenges community gardens & allotments have around garden waste and opportunities to discuss larger projects.
Please book your tickets for this free event.
As per a request from the Listening Event; if you are able everyone is invited to bring food or drinks to share for the event. We will provide plates, cups and cutlery for everyone to use. You can attend even without bringing any food to share for the event. There will be pizzas cooked in the cob oven on site and drinks available.
If you have any questions in regard to the event or dietary requirements please contact us on: CommunityGardening@southwark.gov.uk
We hope to see you there!
