SWA Summer School 2024 - Stef Smith, Coastal Inspired Art to Relax

This informal workshop with start with a walk to Sidmouth seafront (weather and ability permitting), where we will immerse ourselves in all that the coastline has to tempt us with.

With Stef’s guidance and encouragement, you will make notes and sketches in response to what we see, hear, feel and smell, before wandering back to relax and create a series of mixed-media works inspired by our experience.

Designed to take the pressure away from your art practice, most of us become concerned more about the end result and in so doing forget, or struggle to enjoy the process of your art – you will leave this workshop with a happier and more relaxed approach to your creative process.

Stefanie is a contemporary wildlife painter/printmaker. She is inspired by the landscape and natural environment, both locally and those that she seeks out on regular wanderings around Britain.

She divides her time between observing and savouring what each season has to offer – providing inspiration for printmaking and painting that she exhibits regularly, and that of her work as an art tutor, creating images for literature and teaching regularly for The National Trust, Wildlife Trusts and various other organisations.
