Thu 17 Aug 2023 10:00 AM - Fri 18 Aug 2023 4:00 PM BST
South West Art, EX10 8LP
Description
Abstracting the Landscape is designed to help you to work in an expressive, contemporary style; moving away from representational.
The course works well with acrylic paints, however, watercolour is also suitable if preferred.
Louise Bougourd is a contemporary semi-abstract landscape artist, based near Dartmoor, Devon. Her inspiration is drawn from the landscape and the inner landscape of the human condition. Her process reflects responses to land and emotion, using colour, light and movement in her painting to represent the natural world.
Louise will take you through her process which always begins with quick mark-making and sketches recording a moment in time, a fleeting feeling, a changing sky. This course will guide you through processes to use mixed water-soluble media, watercolour pencils, applied using whatever comes to hand - twigs or just fingers for example, in order to convey the moment and movement. These sketches are the starting point, and are often recomposed by being ripped up and used as collage - creating freer, more contemporary landscape based artworks.
A fabulous way to loosen & freshen up your depictions of landscapes and to generally discover some techniques and thought processes that will either lend a fresh eye to your current art practice, or to get you moving into a new direction - more instinctive and reactive to the environment around you.
