Rebecca will demonstrate how she captures the life of animals, using soft pastels, along with hard pastels and pastel pencils. Everyone then gets a chance to work on a piece of their own. You will be working from photographs supplied by Rebecca, or you can bring your own reference with you if you prefer. We will look at the structure of animals heads, how to capture personality, and look at techniques to render the soft textures of fur, and the shine of eyes and noses.

Rebecca’s dynamic pastels capture movement and atmosphere. Her aim is to capture the life and energy of her subjects, which range from animals and horses to landscapes and people. She teaches pastel courses across in Britain and Italy and regularly writes for art magazines. Her book ‘Pastels for the Absolute Beginner’ was published in 2019.

Rebecca is an Associate Member of the Society of Equestrian Artists, and has exhibited with the Pastel Society at the Mall Galleries. Rebecca was a finalist in the Artists and Illustrators ‘Artist of the Year Competition’ 2017-2019.

Materials are not included in the cost of this workshop, but some can be supplied at a small extra cost on the day if required.
