An exciting day, immersion into learning how to push the boundaries of watercolour to create energised, rhythmic, atmospheric depictions of landscape. Exploring dynamic approaches to landscape painting, I will share methods of application of paint and colour pencil to build layers. You will discover how different elements combined can lead to balanced and atmospheric landscapes.
Each participant will initially create a number of small, painted studies experimenting with mark-making, brush work and colour – these studies will be your starting point for larger painting.
A few of the techniques explored will be complimentary colour pairings, use of sharp lines and marks to create edges and friction, tonal range and other painting processes.
Louise is a contemporary semi-abstract landscape artist, based near Dartmoor in Devon. Her inspiration is drawn from the landscape and the inner landscape of the human condition. Her process reflects responses to land and emotion, using colour, light and movement in her painting to represent the natural world.
