ˈtrômə/ delves into the neurological and emotional responses to trauma, bringing to life the internal chaos that unfolds within the brain during a traumatic event. Through movement, the piece explores the various ways the body reacts under intense stress—highlighting states of freezing, dissociation, anxiety, agitation, and numbness. The work also portrays the numbing effect that often follows, as the body and mind attempt to protect themselves from overwhelming emotions. Through this exploration, the dance uncovers the complexity of trauma and the body’s deeply ingrained survival mechanisms, fostering a deeper understanding of how we cope and heal in the aftermath of pain.

Spark Theatre Festival NYC - Fall 2026

Oct 5th-25th, 2026

All performances take place at the 28th Street Theatre (also known as TADA!)
15 West 28th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, 10001

Emerging Artists Theatre (EAT) returns with its one-of-a-kind Spark Theatre Festival NYC, allowing artists of different disciplines to present one performance of a polished "work-in-progress" with audience feedback. Visit the theater any evening during this three-week event, and you'll find yourself transported in a number of surprising ways: by a single performer embodying a whole host of characters, by a more experimental theater piece "done differently" that challenges and delights, by a cozy two-person show exploring relationships; or perhaps by a bouncy new musical that will have you humming. Emerging Artists has always been about new works, talents, and voices. That's never been more evident than now.

NO REFUNDS will be granted.
