What's the Workshop about?

Suitability Reports need to explain to clients why our advice and recommendations are suitable and right for them - but how can we do that in a clear and simple way, that the client will want to read?

This practical workshop will help you to write client friendly plans and reports using plain English, whilst making sure you still include everything you need from a compliance point of view.  There's also going to be practical examples and exercises to help bring it to life and really cement your learning for the future. The workshop also provides 3 hours of structured CPD.

Is this Workshop right for you?

This workshop will be really useful for paraplanners, report writers, planners and advisers, and anyone who writes or reviews reports. It will be especially helpful for you if:

*️⃣ you sometimes find it hard to explain complicated ideas in a simple way

*️⃣ you're not sure what needs to be in your report to make sure it's compliant

*️⃣ you want to make sure you are using language which makes reports readable and easy to understand

*️⃣ you want ways of making your reports more readable and appealing using visual styles, graphics and layout techniques

What's going to be covered?

During the session, we'll be looking at:

🎯 What the ‘Rules’ say needs to be included in a report, and what doesn't

🎯 What are SMART financial planning goals, how these are different to investment objectives and why they are important for telling the client's story

🎯 How to write reports the client wants to read using language, tone and readability tricks as well as visual styles and layout

🎯 How to get your message across – focus on the why and how it will help the client reach their goals

There's also going to be practical exercises which are fun, informal and will really help to reinforce those key points!

What are the Learning Objectives?

The learning objectives for the session are:

🎓 What does COBs and FCA Rules say need to be in a suitability report?

🎓 What aspects and areas do not need to be included?

🎓 What should be covered in a comprehensive suitability report?

🎓 How has Consumer Duty affected our reports?

🎓 To learn the difference between a Financial Planning goal and an investment objective

🎓 To learn how to write SMART objectives in your report that are personalised to the client

🎓 How to write a report the client wants to read using language, visual styles and layout techniques.

🎓 How to use language to make reports readable and easy for a client to understand.

🎓 How can reports be made more inviting using graphics, colours, layout and styles

Feedback on previous sessions

Not sure if this is for you? Here's some feedback from previous sessions that might help you decide!

Just a big thank you! The session was informative, fun and made me excited about report writing again. It's a part of the job that I love, especially when you get feedback that the client really enjoyed reading the report, so it really reignited my passion for that.

I was a little bit concerned when booking that because I have been doing it for so long, it wouldn't be hugely relevant, but I truly think that all paraplanners would benefit from it. There really is something for everyone, already recommended it to several people."

⭐ "I loved the tone of the training, and the 'silly' little bits in the session made it feel really welcoming and human!

⭐ "Excellent presentation, really engaging. I came away feeling confident that our reports are being written in the right way. However, loads of tips for making them more client friendly and have definitely taken some of Caroline's ideas, tips and suggestions on board."

"The session was highly valuable and well-delivered. Caroline was approachable, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable. The course was the right length, and I’d definitely recommend it to other firms."

⭐ "Really useful session and Caroline was very knowledgeable and a great presenter. I would definitely attend another session"

⭐ "This was a fantastic session, and thank you for your time. I came out of the session feeling more confident in the way we are currently completing reports and feeling more inspired to spice them up in attempt to make them more engaging. It was refreshing to see. "

"Brilliant ideas for explaining difficult concepts to clients in a simple way."

"It was honestly all so useful! I especially liked the interactive parts where we had a go at rewording the horrible plan sections!"

"Really informative session that has already helped us formulate plans for amending our reports and training our paraplanners to use plain English and shorter sentences."

"I can't think of much to improve - it was delivered at just the right pace for me, with good break opportunities and timing. You presented it really well in a very clear, engaging style."

"I really enjoyed it, really glad I came and totally worth the money so thanks Caroline!"

"Excellent presentation, really engaging. I came away feeling confident that our reports are being written in the right way. However, loads of tips for making them more client friendly and have definitely taken some of Caroline's ideas, tips and suggestions on board."
