Spectrum Socials CIC
Therapist led events for autistic children
Events list
Spectrum Socials is a community interest company with the mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of autistic children through reducing social isolation, building community and reducing social anxiety. We do this through social events and therapeutic groups across London.
We run regular small group events for autistic children that are matched for social compatibility by age and ability. A behaviour analyst and trained support worker facilitate the events using a behavioural, evidence-based therapeutic approach, to develop social communication and positive interactions.
Our events are more than simply respite; they are specialist support delivered by professionals that are experienced in working with neurodivergent children with complex needs, including challenging behaviour and mental health issues. Activities are tailored around the unique needs of each child attending the event; for example, we create individualised social stories to prepare and motivate children, reducing social anxiety.
We also run more targeted groups for autistic teens experiencing anxiety or low confidence, including girls' groups, groups for gender divergent young people and mixed sex groups. This group combines Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles, social communication work, and a supported in-person meet-up after 8 online sessions.
