Each year, in celebration of the name day of his wife—Princess Maria Josepha Hermenegild Esterházy—Prince Nikolaus commissioned a celebratory Mass. At this concert we will be hear Haydn's final mass, Harmoniemesse, and Beethoven's first and only mass, Mass in C Major, which were specifically written for the occasion.
