Events list
Striving to protect and preserve this ancient and awesome area of outstanding natural beauty in the Sperrins, for future generations through engaging people in deep, meaningful, playful forest school and nature connection.
Sperrin Soul Forest School passionately believe in the vital and urgent need for people both young and old, to connect with the natural world in deep and meaningful ways, so that we can collectively reap the many benefits these relationships bring.
We strive for an inspirational and long-term approach to education, health, and wellbeing through deep nature connection activities in woodland and natural outdoor environments to promote collective holistic development.
All sessions are delivered in woodland sites throughout the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sperrin Soul specialise in long-term Forest School programmes, but also offer taster days and one-off bushcraft and woodland workshops.
Attending forest school is a magical process of child led learning. Activities include shelter building, nature games, scavenger hunts, art, woodland crafts, whittling wood, playing with ropes, making rope swings, and hammock time, to name a few. As well as developing survival skills such as lighting fires and campfire cooking, tree climbing, free play and sensory activities.
We also promote reflective practices such as ‘sit spots’, journaling, and storytelling. We explore Celtic folklore, our numerous local ancient landmarks, customs, and songs. Through ‘playing’ in the woods we learn empowering life skills such as how to set boundaries, make agreements, work together as a team, problem solve and how to care for each other and our natural world.
