🌊 Spurn Migration Festival (Migfest) 2026

11th–13th September | Spurn Bird Observatory, Kilnsea

Join us for a weekend celebrating birds, migration, and the incredible wildlife of Spurn.

Migfest brings together birders of all levels for a packed programme of guided walks, talks, workshops and more, all set against the backdrop of one of the UK’s most iconic migration hotspots. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just getting started, there’s something for everyone.

  • Guided walks covering migration, identification and local specialities
  • A full programme of talks and indoor sessions
  • Bird ringing demonstrations
  • Small-group masterclasses (limited spaces)
  • Stalls, optics, art and more
  • Saturday evening BBQ and social
  • Camping on site

All centred around the unique landscape of Spurn and its role as a migration bottleneck.


🎟 Tickets

Step 1 – Choose your entry ticket
Weekend or day tickets give you access to Migfest and the main programme of events.

Step 2 – Add extras
You can then build your own Migfest experience by adding:

  • Masterclasses (limited capacity)
  • Camping options (Friday and/or Saturday night)
  • Saturday BBQ
  • Prize draw tickets

Important:
An entry ticket is required to attend any part of Migfest.


🎤 Saturday Night Lecture

Access to the Saturday night headline lecture is included with all entry tickets. No separate ticket is required; admission will be managed based on venue capacity.

🎓 Masterclasses


Our masterclasses offer small-group sessions focused on specific skills and topics, from identification and fieldcraft to art and photography.

These sessions are sponsored by British Birds, and all attendees will receive a voucher for a complimentary three-month digital subscription to the journal (October–December).

Spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly, so we recommend booking early.

Under 18s can attend masterclasses at a reduced rate.


⛺ Camping

Camping is available on site for both Friday and Saturday nights, with a choice of standard or premium options.

Stay right at the heart of the festival and make the most of the weekend.


🍔 Saturday BBQ

Join us on Saturday evening for a relaxed BBQ and a chance to catch up with fellow birders after a day in the field.


👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Under 18s

Under 18s can attend Migfest for free (entry only), but must be accompanied by an adult.

Spurn is one of the UK’s most famous bird migration hotspots, with its unique geography funnelling migrants along the peninsula. September is one of the best times of year to experience it, with the chance of anything from common migrants to scarce and rare species.
