The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s Business School, and Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy are launching a new annual series of cross-faculty workshops aiming to find synergies in King’s Social Sciences research with the aim to improving the impact of the work through collaboration and sharing best practices.

The day will be in person and split into two halves with separate registrations. In the morning, we will host cross-disciplinary research “speed dating” sessions to enable cross faculty discussion on the theme of technology for good.

Researchers are invited to use the workshops as opportunities to connect across faculties and coordinate applications for cross-faculty impact funding.

Workshop 1 -  Researcher Speed Dating (KCL NMES and Social Sciences academics only)

Wednesday, 26th March 2025, 10.00 – 12.30, Inigo Rooms (in person only)

This speed dating session presents an opportunity for academics to meet colleagues from other faculties at King's interested in the topic of Tech for Good. Maybe you'll meet your match (for a grant application)!

The workshop will be in person in the Inigo Rooms (Somerset House) and will run 10.00 to 12.30 when we will break for lunch.

If you'd like to book this session, please let us know which of the following themes you are most interested in when you check out.

  1. Health
  2. Environment
  3. Policy, regulations and standards
  4. Arts and culture
  5. Business
  6. Other

Workshop 2- Collaborative Research Impact on Tech 4 Good

Wednesday, 26th March 2025, 13.30 – 16.30, Inigo Rooms (in person only)

The second workshop in the series will be focused on the theme of “Technology for Good,” linking up with the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Centre for Data Futures, Centre for Research in Education in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, Net Zero Centre, Productivity Institute projects, and other research centres and groups across the four faculties. This theme clearly aligns to the King’s Vision 2029 to “make the world a better place” as well as King’s Impact Priority: “Technology for Good.”

The faculties will engage in a three-hour workshop, including presentations on the theme and breakout sessions for discussing next steps. The projects (ideally including both researchers and their non-academic partners) will all be given slots for presentations and then there will be breakout groups for cross-faculty brainstorming. Funds will be made available to support one or two cross-faculty impact initiatives that result from the workshop.

A networking lunch is provided from 12.30 with presentations starting at 13.30 and the event finishing at 16.30 with a networking reception afterwards.

Researchers are encouraged to invite their external partners and/or stakeholders to the event.

If you are interested in presenting at the workshop or have any questions, please contact Victoria Bates (victoria.1.bates@kcl.ac.uk) by noon on Monday, 10th March 2025. The programme will be announced following confirmation of participants.
