STACS Annual In-Person Connect Event! We want to to welcome current PGDE Computing Science teachers and soon-to-be probationers to the profession. The teacher community is amazing, and we know how importance it is to have a network for support, guidance, and exchanging new ideas. Together, we can learn so much and make a real difference to the subject on a national level.

This event provides an opportunity for new and current Computing Science teachers, as well as primary teachers interested in Computing Science, to come together, celebrate the Computing Science PGDE students, and built your networks, leave with ideas and stay connected.

The evening will consist of eight short workshops, you will get to select from three of them. We have a specific workshop tailored to probationers, as well as workshops that will be of interest to all Computing Science teachers and primary teachers interested in Computing Science.

  • Make the most of your probation year (Jack Walker and Ryan Trainer) - Tips for probation year from two newly qualified Computing Science teachers.
  • AI (Amanda Pickard and Laura Di Pasquale) - Two practical examples of using AI to support teaching and learning. Showing how teachers are using Quzizz AI and Curipod.
  • Primary transition (Fraser McKay and Maggie Tuohy) - Hear from two school on how they are engaging with their cluster primary schools around Computing Science.
  • Sphero's across the curriculum (Laura Di Pasquale) - Early years to secondary hands on workshop.
  • Engaging girls in Computing Science (Jack Walker) - Sharing the event based approach that was used at St. George’s School to work towards closing the gender gap in Computing Science.
  • STACS Connected - Discover the new community hub for Primary and Secondary teachers, with a focus on Computing Science. It's a modern space, a brilliant way to find those with similar interests and passions, share ideas, get support, collaborate, and stay connected with ease!
  • JPMorgan
  • Stalls - We will have SSERC, Ada Scotland, Robotical and Make it Happen. You will have a chance to find out more information from them and gain some useful connections.

Attendees can look forward to some freebies, as well as food and refreshments. All attendees must hold GTCS registration, PGDE students we will confirm via lecturer.
