Dame Laura Knight - Al Milnes will give an illustrated talk about her life and work

Dame Laura Knight – née Johnson (1877–1970) – enjoyed artistic success and popularity throughout her long, illustrious and varied career. Despite this, she always acknowledged the formative impact of her years in Staithes between 1894 and 1907.

Al Milnes will give an illustrated talk about her life and work.

Al is the co-owner and director of the Staithes Gallery and Art School on the High Street in Staithes, North Yorkshire. She plays an important role in the local art scene, having opened the gallery in 2006 to showcase contemporary paintings inspired by the village’s unique coastal scenery.
