Season of Creation
St Albans URC is joining with Christians all over the world in celebrating The Season of Creation. As part of this, with the help and support of our ecumenical partners, South St Albans Churches, we are opening the peaceful oasis in and around our Greenwood site to give people time and space to consider actions they might take to care for creation.
Morning: Gardening for Wildlife
We are delighted to be hosting The Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust who will deliver a talk on Gardening for Wildlife. This is a highly illustrated talk that includes an introduction with the State of Nature report on wildlife in Britain. Then ideas on how to attract pollinators, birds, hedgehogs and other wildlife to our gardens; the importance of the food chain and how to deal with pests; how to transform paved front gardens all to secure a future for nature.
Afternoon Retreat - Take time out to relax, reflect and make resolutions.
There will be mindful prayer stations available for those who wish to use them. Gardening for wildlife books will be available to browse, with paper, pens and pencils for those who wish to sketch out how they are going to take action on what they learned during the morning session. Or simply just sit or wander around and enjoy the nature in our grounds. The afternoon will culminate in a short outdoor Forest Church Style Service that all are welcome to attend.
Tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch if you plan to stay all day. If you are unable to attend the morning session but would like to attend in the afternoon, even for a short time, there is no need to book a ticket.
Parking is very limited at the Church, so unless you are a Blue Badge holder, you are requested to park in the streets nearby.
This is a free event but donations to the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust will be very welcome.
