One of our very first speakers at our very first forums, Stephen Roach returns to St. Andrew’s for a weekend of creative inspiration and thought. Stephen is host of the Makers and Mystics podcast and founder of The Breath and The Clay creative arts group. Following the live podcast recording on October 11th, he will join us on Saturday, October 12th as keynote speaker. He’s known for conducting workshops and events centered on the exploration of creativity and the spiritual life. He has penned five volumes of poetry, an illustrated children’s book, practical guides for artists, and is the creator of Poema, a new online course. Stephen lives in North Carolina with his wife Sarah and children Evangelyn Belle and Isaac Brighton.

Smith Podris works across disciplines - visual artist, poet, singer, dancer - and asks questions about the nature of time, memory, and imago Dei - Image of God. Smith shares her poetry via reading, performance, and on her website. Her visual art and spoken poetry was featured in ‘Of Paint and Poetry’ in The Kairos Gallery, and she leads and hosts our Kairos Tribe Small Group for Visual Artists. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of Charleston and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University School of Law. A coastal South Carolina native, she practiced law in the Charleston area before focusing on these creative pursuits. She lives in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, with her husband, Freddy, and their four children.

She is the founder of Heaven Painting, where each of her pieces is infused with spiritual themes, often accompanied by scripture written on the back. Abbey's art celebrates life and divine blessings, offering both aesthetic appeal and a deeper spiritual message. Beyond painting, Abbey has over 15 years of experience as a teacher and life coach, and she enjoys sharing her creative process with clients in her studio. By drawing inspiration from both the divine and iconic photography, she’s transformed her calling into a thriving artistic practice that emphasizes the richness of spirit over material success.
