Aim to arrive a bit early, so that you leave yourself time to find us.

Come and enjoy the simple elemental pleasures of flame, stone, leaf, steam and word. Fleur will lead a lovely 2hr sauna storytelling session; including scents, body treatments and Pirtis leaf whisking techniques, for a pleasurable, meaningful and fun communal bathing experience. This Autumn and Winter she will tell stories of bears, beauties, journeys, lights and love, but we will begin with a wytch. In January, there will be snakes and Cinderellas.

A phrase commonly heard from participants of her events is… ‘Why don’t we always do this?’

About: Fleur Shorthouse Hemmings has been teaching philosophy and working with story for 30yrs. She tells traditional oral stories, specialising in philosophical folktales, Greek myth and fairy tales. She completed her MA (mark pending) in Applied Storytelling, under the tutelage of tradition bearer Shonaleigh Cumbers. She is a student of Lithuanian Pirtis sauna tradition with Bath Master, Birutė Masiliauskienė. Fleur has brought sauna master practice and traditional oral storytelling together to create the unique art form of sauna storytelling. She has been artist-in-residence at Wowo Wild Spa, Sussex, since 2022 and has told Stories at Stanmer since 2001.
