New Moon Ceremony at The StarHouse

New Moons at The StarHouse are intended to weave together in the Sacred Rhythm of the year, including full moons, Solstices, and Equinoxes.

New moons are a time to gather in the fertile darkness—when the sky is quiet, the cycle begins again, and intention is most powerful in its earliest form. This is a beautiful time for inward listening, planting subtle seeds of awareness, and aligning with what is ready to emerge in the cycle ahead.

Join us for a contemplative and renewing evening, attuning to the generative stillness of the moon as we honor the eternal rhythm of life. Together, we’ll explore the profound connections between the cycles of nature, the moon, and our own inner beginnings.

Event Highlights

Astrology Talk

Orient to the sun, Earth, and moon utilizing the StarHouse as the Star Map that it is. During the new moon, the sun and moon stand together in the same region of the sky, marking a moment of alignment and initiation. Each month offers a unique archetypal gateway through which new intention can be planted and nurtured.

Note: The StarHouse utilizes sidereal astrology, which is different from the commonly known western or tropical astrology. The signs may shift, though the archetypes remain the same.

Plant Cycle Exploration

We’ll continue learning from the mirror that is the plant world, following the current cycle of the season: from seed to root to shoot to bud to flower to fruit and back to seed. At the new moon, we listen especially for what is ready to be planted—both in the soil and within ourselves. 🌱

Seed Thought

Each New Moon will center around a theme contained within a short phrase we call a Seed Thought. This theme will be woven throughout the evening—in ceremony, music, movement, and reflection—as a living intention for the cycle ahead.

Ceremony

We will honor the directions, the land, the StarHouse, our theme, and the energy of the current alignment of the cosmos through an experiential activity, embodiment practice, meditation, or reflective ritual aligned with the initiating quality of the New Moon.

A Note on Sidereal Astrology

The StarHouse uses Sidereal astrology instead of Tropical or Western astrology. Over the course of millennia the Earth’s axis slowly tilts, and thus our orientation to the constellations changes over time.

Sidereal astrology follows the stars as they truly shine in the heavens today, inviting us into an intimate dialogue with the living sky. Where tropical astrology reflects the rhythm of the seasons, sidereal listens to the stars themselves—opening a doorway where astrology matches astronomy. ✨

While the signs shift, the energies and archetypes remain the same. There is plenty of merit to Tropical and Western astrology, for it lives embedded in the collective field and has potent influence. Sidereal could be considered a more evolutionary astrology, as something we are all moving toward—literally tilting toward—and growing into over time.

Participation Notes

Although New Moon Ceremonies are mature, educational, and experiential in nature—involving archetypes, astrology, ceremonial practices, meditations, embodiment work, and sound journeys—we do welcome younger participants (under 18).

However, attendance is only permitted with a parent or guardian accompaniment. It is important that the parent or guardian understands the expectation that the young person is able to remain attentive and still for extended periods. If distractions arise, the parent is responsible for managing them outside of the StarHouse.

Thank you for your understanding, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions regarding the appropriateness of your child’s participation.

Blessings on this upcoming New Moon.
