Starkloff Disability Institute

Starkloff Disability Institute (SDI) is a St. Louis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit with over 20 years of experience building inclusion where we live, learn, work, and play through disability-led programs that advance economic opportunity and transform lives.

Barriers, stereotypes, and stigma around disability are still commonplace. The inaccessibility of day-to-day life requires so much grit, disabled people are working to survive. SDI is a catalyst for a world where disabled people thrive.

SDI targets employment, our strongest lever for economic mobility, independence, and full participation in society. SDI's programs are developed and led by experts with lived disability experience for a comprehensive approach:

• Empowering disabled individuals to discover, launch, and advance competitive careers
• Training employers to recognize and remove barriers that exclude disabled candidates and employees
• Educating communities about accessibility, disability rights, and how they can practice inclusion
• Activating our built environment as a framework for inclusion through Universal Design
