Community of Practice workshop May - D&D for Problem Solving

Wed 6 May 2026 17:00 - 18:30 CEST Online, Zoom

Once a month, we invite the community to a one-hour session to discuss a theme related to having better conversations in organisations. These sessions are free of charge and part of our giving back to the community.

If you know someone who might find this session interesting, invite them or bring them along!

The topic of this session is:

D&D for Problem Solving
Gamification of Problem to Outcome

✨ What: Problem solving and goal setting don’t have to be rigid. They can be playful, experimental, and story-driven. In this interactive workshop inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, you’ll explore challenges through collaborative storytelling, randomised prompts, and gamified exercises, discovering new ways to scope problems, plan actions, and move from problem to outcome and into action.

🌟 Why: Traditional goal setting often overlooks how human motivation and decision-making really work. By gamifying the process with D&D-style mechanics, you’ll experience choices, obstacles, and feedback in a safe, engaging way—revealing patterns and insights about how you approach problem scoping and goal setting.

💡 Our View on Gamified Problem Solving: Effective goals and action plans emerge when we experiment, reflect, and adapt. By combining science-informed strategies with narrative play, this session helps you understand how to define problems, make decisions, and create actionable steps that actually work.

🛠️ How: In this session, you’ll:
- Use storytelling and D&D-inspired gamified prompts to scope problems and explore goals
- Experiment with decisions, setbacks, and feedback to see what drives progress
- Reflect and apply insights to create a personalised, actionable problem-solving and goal-setting approach

By the end, you’ll have hands-on experience with playful goal setting, insight into your own problem-scoping patterns, and actionable tools to turn reflection into real progress.

Share your ideas
We invite you to share your challenges, we can use them as themes for future sessions. We will bring our knowledge, experience, and understanding to the session and invite everyone to do the same. That way, you'll find out how you'll have better conversations and have an opportunity to practise your skills.

Themes can touch the basic training modules: state, assumptions, context, listening with curiosity, and feedback, or they can be independent of them, introducing new aspects or skills for better conversations.

Technical setup
We use Zoom for our online sessions. For best performance, we suggest installing or updating the Zoom desktop application or app on your device to the latest version available. Our sessions are usually very interactive, so having a (private) place where you can freely talk and stay unmuted most or all of the time would be best.

Stay informed
We will send out an email 24 hours and one hour before the sessions to those who have signed up here. If you want to be on our mailing list, please indicate during sign-up or provide your details on our signup page:
