Description
The Devil and the Three Golden Hairs is a story of an underdog who becomes a healer of three communities suffering unknown plagues. It reveals the way that healing for the collective is inseparable from the journey of the individual. Lately,to be honest, I find I am uninterested in the word individual. The capitalist consumerist business-as-usual culture needs “individuals” to sell to; or to influence others and needs those who feel less than or separate from, or better than and above, others (both human and other than human) in order for it to be fed. And this is what makes us sick, at the root of it: forgetting our deep connection with Earth Community.
In this story, there is an old grandmother and her grandson, the devil, there is a power hungry king obsessed with his daughter, a ferryman and our non-hero who listens to and follows his intuition and his heart. It is an exploration of the masculine and the role of the male-bodied ones within the structures we call patriarchy. It offers a listening in to how the personal and the collective are inseparable in the journey of healing, transformation and culture making. And, it teaches a lesson about how shapeshifting into something tiny and uninteresting can be the most useful gift of all.
Join me to discover this story and the healing of our power-over world, especially in and for these times, as power is shifting towards fascism, intolerance and violence in many lands. Let us feel into our own inner world and the places where forgetting(our own and our culture’s) has made us sick, as well as the medicine that is available if we learn how to listen to the Devil (who is not what you think he is) rather than the king…
