State of Ropes: Rope Jam - November Edition
Remember, remember, the fifth of November - this time for ropes, not gunpowder!
Our monthly Rope Jam is back at The Kink Store, and if last month was any indication, this is the night the whole community shows up. Organized by Davide, Gina, and Ben, it's the evening we look forward to most: familiar faces and new ones, ropes out, music on, and a room full of people who came to tie, watch, learn, and connect.
Bring the thing you've been practicing. Bring a partner, or come find one at Speed Tying. Or just bring yourself and settle in with a cup of tea. There's no wrong way to spend this night!

What to expect
- This is a play-possible event
- ⚡ Speed Tying with Gina from 7:15 to 8:00 PM - back by popular demand: short rounds, multiple partners, and a low-pressure way to meet new people to tie with
- Snacks, refreshments, and charcuterie board available during the evening
- A ropes workshop from 8:00 to 9:00 PM
- Snacks, refreshments and charcuterie board available during the evening
- 🍵 Tea service available throughout the evening - a social corner to decompress, recharge, and connect with old and new friends.
- Space to practice, explore, observe, or connect at your own pace
- Professional photographer on site
Professional photography will be provided by Jeremie Frémaux (fremauxphoto.com/). Photos will be shared privately with participants shortly after the event. Wristbands will be available for anyone who prefers not to be photographed. No photos using personal phones without enthusiastic consent from everyone in the frame.

Schedule
- Doors open: 7:00 PM
- Speed Tying with Gina: 7:15–8:00 PM
- Doors close: 9:00 PM
- Event ends: 10:30 PM ("hard" ending)
Please plan to arrive on time so we can keep the evening running smoothly.
Consent & etiquette (VERY IMPORTANT)
- A brief consent talk will happen early in the evening
- Ask before touching, tying, or engaging - consent is clear, enthusiastic, and ongoing
- Stay sober enough to give and receive consent
- Do not interrupt scenes in progress
- If you need support at any point, please reach out to an organizer or the house manager
Every Rope Jam includes a consent talk at the start of the evening. We cover the FRIES framework and what it looks like in practice in a space like this.
FRIES stands for: Freely given, Reversible, Informed, Engaged, Specific.
- Freely given - Consent is only real when it comes without pressure, guilt, or repeated asking. That applies to strangers and partners alike. If someone needs time to think, that is not an invitation to persuade them.
- Reversible - Anyone can change their mind at any point - before, during, or after something has already started. A yes given earlier does not lock anyone in. Respect a change of mind without question or pushback.
- Informed - People can only consent to what they actually understand. Be honest about your experience level, your intentions, and anything relevant to someone's safety before engaging with them. Stay sober enough to both give and read consent clearly. If you are under the influence of substances, do not engage in rope or BDSM play, and inform potential play partners so they can make their own informed choice.
- Engaged - Look for genuine enthusiasm, not just the absence of a no. Pay attention to body language, eye contact, and energy. If there is any doubt about whether someone is fully present and willing, the answer is no. If you receive a no, thank the person and do not ask again.
- Specific - Yes to one thing is not yes to anything else. Ask before escalating. Ask before touching. In this space, consent is explicit and ongoing - not assumed.
