An Trasnú - The Cunnigar Crossing 2026

Bí linn agus fáilte! Join us at the Dungarvan Sports Centre X35 P922 to start An Trasnú - Cunnigar Crossing 2026 on 16th August 2026 at 2.30pm.

We encourage you to leave a car at the end of the walk in Baile na nGall in An Rinn before you register for this event in the Dungarvan Sports Centre from 1pm (please car pool if you can). We will provide buses from An Rinn to help you return to Dungarvan after the walk, but if you need to depart quickly, then it is best to leave a car in An Rinn. 

An Trasnú - Cunnigar Crossing is a 6km walk from Dungarvan, across the Brickey river to the Cunnigar and onwards to Baile na nGall in An Rinn, in the Waterford Gaeltacht. This event is possible only once a year on the date of the lowest tide and takes about two hours to complete. We will leave the Sports Centre at 2.30pm sharp to avail of the low tide window so make sure to arrive on time!

The first 300m of the route will be through knee high waters so it is recommended to wear old shoes for the walk across the sands and around the oyster beds of Dungarvan Bay. The walk will finish in Baile na nGall, a centuries old fishing village, where traditional Irish music, Gaeilge and a great local céad míle fáilte awaits! Buses will be available to take you back to Dungarvan at an extra cost of €5, payable on the day in cash only. However, we would encourage you to leave a car in An Rinn.

Proceeds from the event are in aid of the Dungarvan Lions Club, St Declan's Way and to help fund the development of a youth space in the Waterford Gaeltacht, led by Comhlucht Forbartha na nDéise. 

Note: Minimum age to participate is 12 years of age

Tickets must be purchased online in advance via Ticket Tailor. No tickets will be available for purchase on the day.
