Ride Through the Heart of the Golegã Festival

Step into the vibrant world of Portugal’s Golegã Festival with a rare and intimate riding experience alongside internationally recognised Lusitano experts.

Whether you’re joining for a morning or afternoon session, this ride offers an unforgettable opportunity to explore the historic streets and iconic Manga of Golegã, a town that transforms into the epicentre of Lusitano tradition each November. With only four riders per group, you’ll enjoy a personalised experience rich in cultural insight, horsemanship, and the electric spirit of the festival.

What to Expect:

Meet at the private stables in central Golegã and be introduced to your carefully matched Lusitano schoolmaster, perfect for both experienced riders and those seeking a more relaxed pace through the festival.

Get comfortable in the saddle with a relaxed warm-up ride through the quieter lanes of town, as your expert hosts share riding tips and stories of Golegã’s equestrian heritage. Then, ride into the heart of the action with a guided loop through the legendary Manga, the vibrant parade route showcasing riders and horses in traditional dress.

Pause for a photo stop at one of Golegã’s heritage landmarks before heading to one of the town’s famous horse-friendly bars to enjoy a drink on horseback, a true rite of passage!

Enjoy approximately 1.5 hours of immersive riding, after which you’re free to explore, shop, or grab a bite to eat at your leisure.

Important Information

• This tour is designed for competent riders only, due to the busy and unpredictable nature of the festival streets.
• Riding helmets are strongly recommended (helmets are not provided). Participants who choose not to wear a helmet must sign a waiver.
• All riders are required to have their own riding insurance to take part in the experience.
• Transfers, accommodation, and lunch are not included in this experience.

Times:

• Morning ride: around 10:00 am departure (time to be confirmed nearer the day via email)
• Afternoon ride: around 2:00 pm departure (time to be confirmed nearer the day via email)
• Evening ride: around 6:00 pm departure (time to be confirmed nearer the day via email)

Each session is limited to 4/5 riders to ensure a personal and unforgettable experience.

Cancellation Policy

Payment is due at the time of booking to secure your place on the ride. All payments are non-refundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation.
