Happy Rooms returns to Middlesbrough this summer with 12 immersive, artist-designed rooms celebrating colour, creativity and play - designed to ignite your imagination and bring a smile to your face.

Happy Rooms is a family-friendly experience exploring what it means to be and feel happy!

After bringing joy to over 15,000 visitors in 2024, this much-loved experience is back – bigger, brighter and bursting with energy – in a fantastic new home at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Step inside a world where you’re invited to explore, interact and embrace the unexpected at every turn.

This year brings a joyful mix of returning favourites and brand-new rooms, designed to surprise and delight visitors of all ages.

Returning highlights include Flutter of Joy - a whirlwind of confetti, colour and movement that surrounds you in a moment of pure celebration and happiness.

Don’t miss the return of Happy as the Day is Long—grab a headset, step onto the dancefloor and lose yourself in a silent disco beneath a dazzling giant mirrorball!

Discover what’s new:

Tomorrow Street - an imaginative high street brought to life with playful shops, creative activities and bold monochrome designs - inviting you to colour, create and dream up a brighter future!

Step onto Paradise Carpet and watch it come to life beneath your feet! Intricate geometric patterns blend with gentle sound and movement, creating a glowing digital carpet that invites moments of stillness and wonder.

New rooms will be revealed over the coming weeks - bringing new surprises, playful encounters and even more reasons to return again and again!

Ticket pricing (experience lasts 60-90mins):

Peak time: £6.50 Child (under 16) / £8.50 Adult plus booking fee / Family of 4 £26 / Family of 5 £32

Off Peak Discount daily at 3pm & 3.15pm (please note event closes at 5pm): £4.50 Child (under 16) /  £6.50 Adult plus booking fee / Family of 4 £20 / Family of 5 £24

Children 2 and under go free.

The first 2 time slots of 9.30am and 9.45am are our designated quiet slots designed for visitors who would benefit from a calmer, more flexible environment. This includes people with sensory sensitivities, neurodivergent individuals, disabled visitors, and anyone who prefers a less busy experience.. At these times the venue will have less people and be quieter (a relaxed guide will be available to download in advance). You will receive your tickets after purchase via email please check your inbox and junk folders once you have paid for the tickets.
