Tour Highlights
We are happy to announce an encore presentation of our 2023 display, "Christmas...the Season for Believing." Celebrate the holidays with family and friends in our home. Florida's most opulent historic Victorian mansion welcomes you to tour through 10 elaborate and elegant designer decorated rooms which celebrate the birth of Christ for our 13th anniversary. This is not a history tour about the Stetsons. Room themes include An Angelic Celestial Celebration, A Country Christmas, A Bing Crosby Christmas, An Iconic Stetson Christmas, Enchanted Christmas, A Santa Convention and more.
AS USA TODAY 's "#1 Christmas display in Florida, and "#2 in the USA," the Stetson Mansion is the most perfect setting for a holiday home tour - a magnificently restored historic Victorian mansion. After all, it was the Victorians that introduced our many modern holiday traditions like the Christmas tree and gift giving. Built in 1886 for Florida's first snow bird, iconic hat maker John B. Stetson, the ornate landmark on the National Historic Register has beautiful intricate wood carvings, 16 intricate parquet floor patterns, and 10,000 panes of antique glass - all competing with this year's elaborate designer decorations for the visitor's attention. Three or four unusual nativities from around the world are part of each room's elaborate display.
Tour through the 1st and 2nd floors of the mansion at your own pace while you learn about the origins of our modern holiday traditions, this year's 10 themes and how the owner/designer's interpretation of each room's design helps celebrate the birth of Christ and the holiday season. (The Self Guided audio is not a historic tour. It's about Christmas. History is emailed to you. Guided tours with some history are offered.) Regular historic tours will resume in February.
The mansion was the most modern home in Florida when it was built in 1886. Thomas Edison, a friend of Stetson, installed the electric system which allowed for one of the first sets of electric Christmas tree lights to be used on a tree in the Stetson Mansion. The current occupants of the Mansion continue the old holiday tradition started by Stetson and Edison: lighting up the Christmas tree in the parlor with the same electric outlet Edison installed for that very first string of tree lights. Your visit here is a modern tradition - opening up the private estate during the holidays for everyone's enjoyment.
For over fifteen years visitors have been awestruck with the inspiration and imagination that goes into our elaborate, elegant, reverent, and personal Christmas display that celebrates the birth of Christ and the meaning of the holiday season. Our heart and soul goes into our annual "Christmas Spectacular!" The emotional and spiritual connection it makes with Stetson Mansion guests and our family explains why their many positive reviews have established the Mansion as Tripadvisor's "#1 Rated Landmark Tourist Attraction In Florida" since 2014 and "Top 10 Attractions in the USA" since 2022.
Photography is not permitted inside the Mansion for security reasons. Pictures are welcome on the grounds and in the School House.
