Cocktails with Cuffe is a fundraising gala celebrating the premiere of CUFFE: TAXED, a new short film inspired by the remarkable true story of Paul Cuffe—a Black and Wampanoag mariner, entrepreneur, and abolitionist whose legacy remains deeply connected to Westport, Dartmouth, and New Bedford, and extends far beyond the South Coast.
Join us for an evening of hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar featuring signature Cuffe cocktails, live music by Joaquín Santos & Friends, a silent auction, and the opportunity to connect with fellow supporters, historians, descendants, artists, and community leaders as we gather to honor Cuffe’s enduring spirit of leadership, resilience, and community.
Guests will enjoy a special screening of CUFFE: TAXED at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, access to the museum’s Paul Cuffe exhibit, opportunities to meet members of the cast and crew, and a themed photo opportunity featuring the tall clock and cargo crates seen in the film.
Proceeds from the evening support The Cuffe Project’s mission to bring Paul Cuffe’s story to audiences through film, education, and community engagement.
Whether you’re passionate about history, filmmaking, education, or community building, Cocktails with Cuffe offers a unique opportunity to celebrate a remarkable local legacy while helping bring this important story to new audiences.
Celebrate history. Build community. Be part of the journey.
Attire: Summer casual. Feel free to add a touch of cocktail flair if you'd like.
A BIG THANK YOU to the friends & family who helped bring CUFFE: TAXED to life.
