The next Third Sector Breakfast Club will focus on Digital Impact, and will be followed by a discussion on the Scottish Government's Local Governance Reform proposals.

Douglas Johnston from Studio Gu Brath will be joining us to share his experience and insights around branding, storytelling and how organisations can communicate their story effectively.

We’ll also be joined by Tom Finch from Soluna by Kooth, who will provide an update on this digital mental health support service and how it can support people in our communities.

Alison Brogan from SCVO will be talking to us about the importance of cyber security, as well as the support and resources available to help organisations protect themselves online.

We’re also extending this month’s Breakfast Club to make space for an informal discussion on the Scottish Government’s Local Governance Reform proposals. As these proposals are at an early consultation stage, it’s an opportunity to share ideas and help shape thinking rather than respond to a fixed model. SVE will use these discussions to help develop our response, alongside TSIs across Scotland, to inform the national discussion.

What is being proposed?

  • Regional Authorities (6–10 across Scotland): larger strategic authorities, bringing together functions that benefit from working at greater scale, such as economic development, housing, strategic planning, employability, transport and other core services.
  • Community Authorities (120–160 across Scotland): more local authorities based around recognisable communities, with responsibility for local decisions and services, bringing decision-making closer to communities.

What could this mean for the third sector and communities?

  • Changes to where and how decisions about our places and public services are made.
  • New opportunities for communities and the third sector to have a stronger voice and role.
  • A chance to think about what we want future arrangements to look like in Stirling.

We’ll use the extended Breakfast Club to have an informal conversation about the proposals, hear your initial views and gather ideas that can help inform the consultation.

Come along for a morning of presentations, discussion, and the opportunity to network and catch up with local third sector organisations. Teas, coffees, and pastries will be provided.
