Workshop: Oil Painting Basics: Capturing Still Life with Symone Ishak (2 weeks) - T2W25: PPP


What you will learn:
Participants will create a still life painting while learning essential techniques to develop their own oil painting practice. Over 2 3-hour sessions, the workshop covers mono-tone underpainting, colour mixing, brush selection and care, layering methods from underpainting to final touches, and safe handling, cleaning, and storage of oil paints. We will also discuss going beyond still-life painting, finding inspiration, and sustaining an art practice.

Canvas sized 30x25cm

Bring your own brushes if you wish, suggested are
Small, medium and large round brushes (2 of each)
- Small medium and large square brushes (2 of each).

Paint will be provided, however these are the colours if you would like to bring your own:
*Titanium white
• Lemon yellow/light yellow
• Cadmium yellow/deep yellow/warm yellow
• Cadmium red/cool red
• deep red/crimson/warm red
• Cobalt blue/phthalo blue
• Ultramarine blue/prussian blue
• Raw umber
• Burnt sienna

Symone is an oil painter based in Walyalup, Fremantle. What started as play with oil paints, has evolved into an intuitive and exploratory process, creating a bridge between her inner reflections and the outer world. Her work delves into themes of connection, solitude, and grounding in the natural environment. She remains committed to deepening her exploration of colour, form, and narrative, continually pushing the boundaries of her evolving practice. Symone shares her passions by offering painting workshops, arts facilitation, and mentorship, empowering others to explore and develop their creative voice.
