Workshop: Fundamentals of Oil Painting (over 3 weeks)
What you will learn: Learn the fundamentals of oil painting. This workshop is ideal for beginners wanting a solid foundation in how to start oil painting, as well as experienced acrylic and watercolour artists wanting to learn about oil painting.
You will learn:
• What makes oil painting so special.
• Essential tools and materials you need to get started.
• Essential oil paints without breaking the budget.
• Tonal painting with chromatic black
• How to prepare an unprimed canvas with size and gesso
• How to use different oil paint mediums
• How to make your own medium
• Safety using paint and solvents
You can enrol in this workshop as a one off, or take the next step in you oil paint journey by also enrolling in Introduction to Oil Painting, where we dive into colour mixing.
Level: Beginner
Suitable Ages: 18+
Maximum Participants: 10
Bring with you:
• Notebook and pen
• Rags for cleaning brushes
• A small glass jar for week 2
Wear clothes or apron suitable for oil painting and closed in shoes.
