What you will learn: Learn how to use charcoal in expressive ways to capture movement in live subjects!
This 2 day workshop run by Grace Janowicz will involve:
- Working with different kinds of charcoal on paper
- Learning how to use lines and your own eye to draw human forms
- Using the medium to produce the illusion of movement in a still image
- Getting to model for your fellow artists (don't worry, you'll get to keep your clothes on!)
- Produce at least one completed drawing with movement
This workshop will get quite messy, so wear something you don't care for.
Level: Intermediate
Suitable Ages: 18+
Maximum Participants: 10
Materials provided by the Tutor: Printed reference images and written handouts.
Various charcoal products
Bring with you: A visual diary if you have one.
Bring an apron or wear old clothes if you want to avoid charcoal smudges.

Artist Profile - About your Tutor: Grace Janowicz is a young local artist new to the scene, she runs a art tutoring business called "Sketch with Grace" and her most recent major artwork was a mural at the Eaton library. She has spent many years exploring her creativity and has found inspiration in many forms of art such as realism in charcoal and graphite, oil and acrylic painting, and mixed media collages. Her favourite subject is the human body in all its forms.
