Drawing the Figure with Andrea Schell_T3_2026

Join artist and educator Andrea Schell for a one-day figure drawing workshop designed to deepen your observational skills and build confidence drawing the human form from life. Andrea will demystify the art of drawing from life by guiding you through a range of traditional and contemporary drawing techniques. You will learn how to identify key anatomical landmarks, understand proportion and foreshortening, and use gestural drawing to bring movement and vitality to your work.

The day is divided into two parts:
Morning – without a model
You will learn foundational techniques to strengthen your observational drawing skills, mark-making, basic anatomy and proportion.

Afternoon – with a model
You will apply the skills gained in the morning to drawing a live model, exploring techniques to create realistic, lively drawings.

Level: This workshop is ideal for the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of figure drawing from life, to those who are experienced in figure drawing and want to take their skills to the next level in their practice.

About the Facilitator
Andrea Schell is a visual artist and educator who draws and paints from life, delighting in paying close attention to the beauty of ordinary moments and overlooked places. For Andrea, art making is a direct path to reconnecting to the quiet intimacy of life while also tapping into a long and rich history of making images. Her approach to teaching is by sharing this knowledge and joy of art-making to others.
