Couching a Needlebook or Notebook cover

Join textile artist Jean Fenton for a creative, hands-on workshop exploring texture and stitch. In this class, you’ll create a unique notebook cover or needlebook using a variety of natural wool yarns.

You’ll learn the art of couching - a decorative technique where thicker or textured yarns are laid on the surface of fabric and secured with small stitches over the top. This method allows you to add rich texture and dimension without pulling bulky yarns through the fabric.

Working on hand-dyed fabric, you’ll explore how to arrange and couch textured yarns to create your own beautiful, useful, and one-of-a-kind finished piece to take home.
