Backstrap Loom Weaving with Jo Peake

In this workshop with Jo Peake, you will learn to use a backstrap loom and create a piece of woven fabric. You will have a selection of colourful wool to choose from. The looms will already be threaded so you can start weaving straight away. Jo will guide you in the techniques of using a back strap loom and share her love of weaving.

No prior experience required. All materials are supplied for this workshop.

Jo is a Bristol-based weaver with over 18 years of experience designing woven fabrics for the fashion industry. 8 years ago she traded in the large industrial looms for small wooden looms and traditional backstrap weaving. Her work includes woven fabrics, scarves, and small woven furniture pieces, all made using natural fibres.
Passionate about preserving and sharing this ancient craft, Jo also runs workshops where she encourages others to experience the joy of making by hand. She believes deeply in the mental health benefits of slowing down, focusing creatively, and reconnecting through craft.
