Join us for a hands-on session in the beautiful world of natural dyeing with Kitty Wilson Brown.
In this workshop, you’ll explore the rich, earthy reds of madder and the sunny yellows and golds of marigold, learning how to prepare and dye 100g of DK yarn using these two wonderful natural dyestuffs. You’ll dye 50 g of yarn with madder and 50 g with marigold, giving you two beautifully coloured contrasting skeins to take home and enjoy.
But there’s a little extra treat! As part of the workshop, you’ll also receive a free knitting pattern for an Emotional Support Chicken and two chicks, with the option to knit them using Fairisle or stripes. Of course, this is not compulsory and you can use your yarn for whatever project you like!
Materials for the rest of your chicken and chicks will be provided, so you can get started on your flock straight away. Needles are not included, so please bring the appropriate needles for the pattern.
Whether you’re completely new to natural dyeing or looking to deepen your knowledge, this is a relaxed and creative workshop where you can experiment with colour, learn about traditional dye plants, and leave with some gorgeous hand-dyed yarn…and a very useful emotional support flock!
