Come and discover the hidden treasures of St Ives Community Orchard!

A relaxed guided walk through the Community Orchard & Forest Garden, discovering the edible plants, fruit & nut trees and fruit bushes that make this special place so unique.

Discover over 50 different varieties of apple, with wonderful names such as Pigs Nose, Pendragon, Hangy Down, Slap Ma Girdle, Sops in Wine and Pear Apple. Alongside the apples, there are also figs, kiwi fruit, medlars, grapes, pears and many different types of berries.

Along the way, you’ll get to:

  • Taste some of the Orchard’s many fruits, including some of our freshly squeezed apple juice.
  • Find out how we turn our apples into fresh apple juice and cider, and taste some of last year's cider.
  • Explore our edible food forest, ethnobotanical gardens and some of the useful plants growing around the Orchard.
  • Visit the apiary and find out more about our log hive.
  • Learn about our composting, worm baths and vegetable gardens.
  • Hear the story of how the Orchard has developed over the past 10+ years .

The walk is led by Elise Langley, a founding member of the orchard who is passionate about the project and growing unusual and interesting fruit varieties.

£5 per person | Free for Orchard volunteers

The walk lasts around 2 hours and is a gentle-paced stroll with plenty of stops to look, taste and chat. Suitable for all ages.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
