Treat yourself to a relaxing Sunday afternoon of live music, delicious homemade cake, and freshly brewed tea in the beautiful surroundings of St Laurence, Forres.

Join us on the first Sunday of every month for an uplifting concert featuring a varied programme of inspiring live music, performed by talented musicians in the stunning setting of this historic venue.

About the Performance

We're delighted to welcome Trio Celtique, a Highland-based ensemble formed four years ago, featuring soprano Kathryn Arnould, flautist Aki Maruyama-Leggett, and pianist Brian Smith.

Kathryn is a recently retired GP and an accomplished professional recitalist, specialising in French mélodie. Aki combines her work on Highland rewilding projects with an active performing career, playing with orchestras and chamber ensembles across the region. Brian is a well-known accompanist, organist at St John's, Forres, and local choral conductor. Earlier this year, he conducted Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at the opening concert of the St Laurence Music Series.

Trio Celtique is renowned for its beautiful French repertoire, but for this special concert there will also be a distinct German flavour. The programme includes a fascinating trio recently unearthed from the archives of a Berlin library, performed from the original manuscript as it has never been published.

Could its composer have been inspired by Schubert's Gretchen am Spinnrade? Come along on 6 September to hear the music—and discover the full detective story behind this remarkable find.

Our bar will also be open, so if you prefer, you can enjoy an alternative refreshment while you relax and enjoy the entertainment.
