We are excited to have Richard Paul back at the club for an amazing tasting and very special single barrel release!

When: Friday July 31st 2026. Doors open at 7pm.

Where: SLBS Members Tasting Room 917 S. Main Street St. Charles, MO 63301. Parking in lot, along Main Street and at Lewis and Clark Museum parking lot. Please enter through the door on the right side of the building and head upstairs.

We don't want to giveaway all the fun details of this commemorative single barrel that Jeff Henley has personally selected but by looking at the label you can quickly see this is a very personal and special commission for Jeff's father Pfc John Henley who served in the 101st Airborne Glider Infantry Battalion.  Jeff will take over the tasting at this point to tell the tales of Pfc John Henley and how this specially commissioned bottle came about with Richard Paul.

Born from Art, Raised on Purpose

“I sold everything I had to start this,” Richard says. The idea for Art of the Spirits didn’t emerge from a boardroom — it came from oil paint, promises, and a God-given sense of direction. In 2016, the first bottles were released after a trip to Deadwood, South Dakota, where artist Danial James painted one of the early label artworks. The name reflects what Richard set out to do: bring fine art and fine spirits together in one uniquely American package.

"What many don’t see behind the whiskey and art is the deeply personal mission." Richard made promises to special forces veterans — SEALs, Delta Force, and others — to give back through the brand. “I’m not in this for the money,” he says. “I’m just a bootlegger trying to keep promises.”

The early years weren’t easy – pouring everything into the dream came with risk. “The turning point of AOTS is when the military and first responders came in to commission us,” he recalls. “That’s when I knew it was working. That’s when the mission became bigger than the brand.”
