The King's Men at St Mary's Balcombe
Mon 15 Jul 2024 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
St Mary's Church, Balcombe, RH17
Description
Come and enjoy the gorgeous sounds of The King's Men, the world famous a cappella group from King's College Cambridge, as they fill St Mary's Church with their arrangements of songs and choral works from the 16th to the 21st century. The first half showcases sacred polyphony, madrigals, and folk songs, and the second half explores blues, jazz and pop genres.
The King’s Men is the close-harmony group of the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge. When they are not singing alongside the choristers for BBC broadcasts or daily services, the Choral Scholars work independently to produce their own season of concerts, performing works from Byrd to the Beatles. The King's Men give annual tours to the North and South of England, recently toured to Jersey, and have performed as far afield as North America, Australia, and China. Current members of The King's Men join a star-studded legacy, whose many former members have gone on to become members of ensembles such as The King's Singers, pursue successful solo careers, hold leading posts in church music, and beyond. More information on the current members of the group is available here: http://www.kingsmencambridge.co.uk/.
