A French Adventure - SOPHIA BARTLETTE and EMRE OZTEK

Violinist Sophia Bartlette and pianist Emre Oztek come to St Mary’s with a programme inspired by the music of France.

The recital includes Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne and Cortège, two beautifully contrasting works by one of the most gifted French composers of the early twentieth century. Alongside them, Bartlette and Oztek will perform César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A major, one of the great masterpieces of the violin repertoire: expansive, lyrical and deeply expressive, moving from tender intimacy to radiant intensity.

Join us for an evocative recital in the resonant surroundings of St Mary’s. This programme offers a musical journey through elegance, atmosphere and passion, bringing together the delicacy and colour of Boulanger with the emotional breadth and grandeur of Franck’s much-loved sonata.

Music at St Mary’s is the next chapter of our much-loved Fine Music for Free recital series. Each event offers a 45–60 minute performance, with wine and nibbles available before and after the recital. The musicians are usually available to chat afterwards, giving audiences the chance to meet the performers in an informal and welcoming setting.

Entry is by a minimum donation of £5, with ticket income and any additional donations shared between the musicians and the church, supporting both live music and the life of St Mary’s.
