We are delighted to welcome the Friary Brass Band back to St Nicolas for their third visit and we expect the music to be every bit as amazing as it has been the last two times! This year we have chosen to run the event on a Sunday afternoon, and we hope this will encourage you to come and enjoy the concert.
We will be raising funds for the church, and there will be wine and soft drinks available to purchase at the interval.
Friary is one of the south’s top bands. A regular national finalist at the Royal Albert Hall, it was regional champion for a record-equalling five successive years and has won numerous awards for entertainment. Apart from three military bandsmen, the players are all amateur musicians from around the south, rehearsing twice a week. Friary’s Musical Director, Captain Andrew Porter, is also Director of Music to the Grenadier Guards.
Friary supports charities, assists young aspiring brass players and performs at civic and public events such as the world-famous Lewes Bonfire Parade. Friary is currently ranked in the top 50 bands worldwide.
