Listening to people is the foundation of community organising because it builds trust and relationships, uncovers issues and is an essential starting point for bringing people together to share stories, ideas and action. On this course, you will gain an understanding of why listening is important in community organising and you will develop practical listening skills and tactics and plan a listening campaign.

The course also provides a reminder of the basics of community organising, which are covered in our Introduction to Community Organising course. It is essential that you complete the Introduction course before signing up to our Listening course.
Like all of our training, it is both active and thought-provoking. It is designed so that everybody can take part and share their ideas and experiences. Many different people have taken part in the Introduction to Community Organising course, from members of the community, people who work in community organisations as well as individuals from local government and statutory services.
