Workshop Overview

A practical sprint and speed workshop for everyone aged 16 - 60, from complete beginners and recreational runners through to experienced athletes, Personal Trainers and coaches.

Whether you run for fitness, compete, play sport, coach others or simply want to learn how to move faster, this session is designed to be accessible, practical and useful for a wide range of abilities.

You do not need to be a sprinter or an elite athlete to take part.

Join us for a special two-hour practical track session with Olympic medallist and Team GB sprinter Toby HarriesΒ at Withdean Stadium.

Toby will introduce you to some of the techniques and training methods used by elite sprinters, but everything will be delivered in a way that allows people of different ages, fitness levels and running experienceΒ to take part.

The aim is simple:

Help you understand how to run faster, move more efficiently and maintain good running technique as you become tired.

And you'll get to experience it all on the track!

What You'll Experience

πŸƒ Sprint and acceleration technique

Learn how posture, body position and force application can help you accelerate and run more efficiently.

⚑ Running drills used by elite sprinters

Experience practical drills focusing on posture, rhythm, dorsiflexion and effective movement.

πŸ‘Ÿ Stride length and stride frequency

Discover how stride length, stride frequency, arm drive and relaxation can influence your running speed.

πŸ”₯ Running well under fatigue

Experience exercises designed to challenge your ability to maintain good running mechanics as you become tired.

πŸ“ˆ Tempo and speed endurance training

Finish with progressive running intervals designed to introduce faster running in a controlled and manageable way.

The Session

You'll begin with a progressive warm-up before working through:

βœ… Running and acceleration drills

βœ… Activation and mobility work

βœ… Sprint technique drills

βœ… Resistance-band drills

βœ… Stride-length and stride-frequency exercises

βœ… Running drills and bounding

βœ… Fatigue-based conditioning

βœ… Progressive tempo running

Everything can be adjusted to suit your current ability.

This isn't a race and nobody is expected to keep up with an Olympian!

The aim is to learn, experiment with your running technique and experience some of the methods that elite athletes use to develop speed and performance.

Train With an Olympian

Toby Harries is one of Britain's leading 200m and 400m athletes.

Toby represented Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning an Olympic bronze medal, and has competed internationally at the highest level.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from an elite athlete, ask questions and experience sprint training principles for yourself.
