Tickets are now available for the British Christian Writer's Conference, on the 1st and 2nd of September 2023, with opportunities for you to refine your calling, learn how to market your work in ways that suit you, and develop your writing skills as you learn more about the craft. Once again it's all happening in the beautiful setting of Ridley Hall in Cambridge, with the company of friends, fellow writers, and experts in their field.

This year, the event comprises:

  • A guided retreat on the afternoon of Friday 1st September
  • A day conference on Saturday 2nd September

Join us for a Writers Guided Retreat on the afternoon of Friday 1st September.

On Friday 1st September we will be joined by  Ian Adams, spiritual guide and chaplain at Ridley Hall Cambridge, who will be leading a half-day retreat for a small group of writers at Ridley Hall. Ian will be our guide as we come together to explore our calling, share experiences together, and renew our vision and calling to write. TICKET PRICE: £65.

The retreat will start with lunch at 1 pm, refreshments will be provided in the afternoon and dinner will be provided in the evening within the ticket price.

Revd Ian Adams is a chaplain at Ridley Hall in Cambridge. He is a priest, poet, writer, and photographer. He has published six books featuring his prose, poetry, meditations, prayers, and photography.

The British Christian Writer's Conference, Saturday 2nd September

Our traditional day conference will feature a stellar team of speakers, who will be talking about the craft, the process of publication, and providing insights on marketing for writers of all personality types and at all stages in their journey. Our speaking team this year includes:

  • Jude Simpson on poetry and performance
  • Sophie Neville on going beyond the novel into script writing
  • Claire Dunn on: Bringing history alive: making the historical novel feel real and relevant to a 21st century audience
  • Joanna Watson on writing the encounter with God
  • Michael Harvey on worldbuilding
  • Jason Smith on social media and websites for authors
  • Ruth Leigh on how to set up an engaging and attractive bookstall for signings, events, talks and conferences, and sell more books
  • Maressa Mortimer on the process of publishing physical books and ebooks for indie writers.

Once again we are also delighted to welcome Lauren Crook and her team from Kingdom Living Ministries (KLM) who will be providing one-to-one prayer ministry for those who want it. As an attendee, you will have an opportunity to sign up for a one-to-one prayer ministry time within the price of the ticket with the team from KLM, subject to availability; there will be refreshments during the day, including lunch, and the chance to bring your books to sell in our media hub, and see what your fellow writers are doing.

For those who attend on the Saturday, we are also offering a small number of attendees the chance to sign up for a one-to-one consultation with freelance digital designer and marketer, https://www.socialshapes.com/abouthttps://www.socialshapes.com/about. These half-hour, private consultations will offer you the chance to talk to Jason about your specific situation and requirements for website, social media, and marketing. You'll be able to provide Jason with information ahead of the consultation on what you want to discuss and the areas where you need his advice. The price of these individual consultations is £10.

Attendees can obtain a preferential accommodation rate from our partners at Westminster College, the URC college in Cambridge. Alternatively you can try University Rooms which will give you other options to stay in a Cambridge College.
