The Event
Told through sound, song, and an exquisite array of hand-made sensory props, Fly Me to the Moon with Cassandra Wye is a sensory storytelling experience like no other specially created for younger audiences and children with additional needs. With LOTS of audience participation so everyone is immersed in the storytelling experience, let us fly to the Moon together – and back again!

Adults and children are encouraged to join in with all the actions, songs and elements of sign language used (Makaton), although no part of the event is compulsory as some children find active participation too overwhelming.

Children will be learning about:
• What animals live in Bolivia where the folktale is from.
• What the Moon is made of and why it seems to change shape in the sky.
• Why the Moon is ‘our forever friend’ – even though we may not see it, it is always there.

About Cassandra Wye
Cassandra Wye has been working as an International Inclusive Storyteller for over 30 years around the globe from Barbados to Borneo; from the depths of the rainforest to the roof of the world; working on the streets with audiences of thousands, to one to one sessions as bedside theatre in children's hospitals. She has a wealth of experience in working with marginalised communities to increase access to arts and education and is passionate about the impact storytelling can have on children's creativity and communication development.

As an ex-scientist (in Inclusive Research) she specialises in promoting Science as Storytelling. She has worked as a Scientist-Storyteller to create online inclusive resources for Teaching Science Through Story for NASA USA; co-created professional Science Storytelling training for a Somali Refugee community in Kenya with British Council Africa; delivered performances for adults to celebrate Lunar New Year with National Science Museum UK; and co-created with Gaza Ministry of Education their first ever training in Science Storytelling for English Language Learning for families across Gaza, Palestine and West Bank.

Cassandra’s most recent project A Fiesta of Stories championed inclusive storytelling for EYFS settings and families across Bristol, culminating in an online day-long celebration with over 3000 children.

Tickets

Children under 12 must have an adult with them at all times. Babes in arms do not require a ticket.

  The regular ticket price, covering the cost of your place at the event

• Adult or Child Pay It Forward Ticket: £6
  If you're able to pay a little more, your extra £1 helps subsidise Financial Aid tickets

Directions
We The Curious is in Millennium Square in the centre of Bristol. There is plenty of cycle parking, it is a short walk from many city centre bus stops and 20 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads. You could also get a ferry!

If you are travelling by car, the venue is within the Bristol Clean Air Zone so you may incur a fee if you use a vehicle. There is a car park directly underneath the venue, with 22 blue badge spaces and lifts for access. Use BS1 5LL to get to Millennium Square Car Park.

About the venue
We The Curious is an interactive science museum, with a cafe, shop and main entrance. Storytale Festival is on the top floor, accessible from the side door that opens out onto Millennium Square, very near the shiny metal Planetarium. Look out for our signs and volunteers who will show you where to go.

Once you are in the door, there is a lift to the top floor, with accessible toilets and a large main room (The Rosalind Franklin Room). There will be buggy parking, a cloakroom and activities in that space. The events will mainly be taking place in rooms that immediately join onto the main room. There is also a balcony space outside. We will have headphones and a sensory space.
