The Event
What if the next great movie started with your idea?

In this interactive workshop, award-winning filmmaker Nicola Irvine will take you behind the scenes and show you how a story from your imagination can be developed into an onscreen film. Through storyboarding, learning cinematic shot set ups and filmmaker tricks used in real productions, you'll learn how to build exciting scenes, memorable characters and cinematic moments without needing expensive equipment to bring your stories to life.

About Nicola
Nicola Irvine is a filmmaker/storyteller, and owner of the production company Landlady Films which she set up in 2019. She has made her own films since the age of twelve and has taught children about film at theatre companies in the past. She primarily focuses on writing dark stories and tales for children. Nicola is currently writing her first children's novella The Moonlight Circus, based on an audio drama she self-produced. Last year she completed her MSt in Writing for Performance at Cambridge University.

Our festival aims to be affordable, diverse, and supportive of our amazingly talented local writers and artists.

About the venue
We The Curious is an interactive science museum, with a cafe, shop and main entrance. Storytale Festival is on the top floor, accessible from the side door that opens out onto Millennium Square, very near the shiny metal Planetarium. Look out for our signs and volunteers who will show you where to go.

Once you are in the door, there is a lift to the top floor, with accessible toilets and a large main room (The Rosalind Franklin Room). There will be buggy parking, a cloakroom and books for sale in that space. The events will mainly be taking place in rooms that immediately join onto the main room. There is also a balcony space outside. You can see photos of the spaces and take a virtual tour on the We The Curious website: Rosalind Franklin Room | We The Curious and The Annexe | We The Curious

We will have headphones and a sensory space. You can see more details about the venue, entrance, facilities etc here AccessAble - Your Accessibility Guide
