Peoples Emergency Briefing on Climate Change

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK? Stourbridge Climate Action  is hosting a special community afternoon screening of the National Emergency film about climate change and what we can do about it. The recent heatwaves and fires witnessed across Dudley Borough prompted the forming of a new action group; Stourbridge Climate Action and to host our own screening of the National Emergency Briefing. It’s important that as many people as possible see this film up and down the country and become aware of the issues and how we can all contribute to addressing these.

Join us for a special afternoon screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing – an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with an appearance from Chris Packham and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

We are inviting our local MP, councillors, charities, environmental and civic groups and are optimistic that they will join with those living or working  in Stourbridge for this important discussion about our future.

Tickets are free but as seats are limited please book in advance. If after booking you are unable to attend, we’d be very grateful if you could let us know so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone else. Doors open at 12.30 and the film screening will start at 1pm prompt. Parking is not available at the venue but car parks and transport links are near by. Please walk or car share if you can.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Stourbridge Climate Action  and why are they organising this event?

Stourbridge Climate Action is an independent, non-party citizens action group calling for securing urgent, practical actions on climate change and climate resilience in Stourbridge. It’s  important that as many people as possible get to see the film so Stourbridge Climate Action decided to host a showing of this film in the heart of Stourbridge and in an afternoon so people not wishing to travel at night have an opportunity to view the film.

Why is the event for 16 years and above?

We advise against under sixteens attending as the film discusses emergencies and depicts some extreme weather events which younger children may find overwhelming. Plus adults’ comments and questions could also cause distress to children.
